“Interpretation on Fire”
Holden Village, WA
Holden Village is a remote wilderness community in the North Cascades that was nearly ravaged by fire in 2015. Evidence of the burn surrounds the village today, leaving visitors with many questions. In 2022, Village leadership invited Angela and Laura to visit and lead a series of interpretive planning workshops, resulting in community-driven concepts for a fire-themed trail.
Services provided:
-

Interpretive Planning
We led Village staff and visitors through a basic planning process, including a journaling activity that generated themes and stories.
-

Audience Evaluation
Participants’ nature journals generated ideas for the trail itself, and resulted in data that we used for simple front-end evaluation. Scan QR code to see our evaluation report.
